Leprosy Project

Before my portrait project at the Khokana Leprosy Colony, I was unaware that "leper" is considered racist by those affected. I had no knowledge of the disease or its current impact on people across the global. My visit to the colonies, interactions with affected individuals, and research have greatly expanded my understanding. Although leprosy is contagious disease, it is easily teated if caught early and the individual has access to medical treatment.
