Reenactors are people who recreate historical events. Most reenactors don't believe they choose the ‘character’ they are portraying but that 'the character chooses them.' By depicting historical events, reenactors educate the public about the sacrifices made and its impact on our country. Reenacting brings history to life in a way that textbooks and documentaries cannot.

By capturing these contemporary Civil War images, I intend to explore how individuals may have experienced conflict had modern photographic cameras been present.
