When we tried to give this man a solar light to replace the kerosene light in his hand, he informed us that he will be getting his electricity back again “soon.” To him, that actually means 6-9 months he must survive without power. “Give the light to my neighbor,” he told us. “They have never had light.” I was truly amazed when I heard his unselfish words!

Although there has been a ton of pain, sorrow and loss, I find the Filipino people truly amazing. They are so quick to laugh, smile and always invite me into their homes and lives. Although I often can only stay for a short time I always walk away feeling welcomed. #givelight #WOLhaiyan
