This family gathered under their make-shift shelter to remember the death of a loved one tonight.
It is a Filipino tradition to gather all of family members left behind 40 days after the death to celebrate the life of the person who has passed away.
Almost every family I have met here on Bantanya Island gathers around this type of kerosene light source every night to eat dinner. Once the sun sets you can see these little tiny light sources burning in every village. Some families have no light source at all after the sun sets because they can not afford the kerosene. It is our hope to bring solar lights to many of theses families. #WOLhaiyan #givelights
